Seventy-Fifth Annual Report

This report is offered to the Convention in gratitude and
thanksgiving to God for the most remarkable year in Southern
Baptist history. The great campaign which lias been conducted
during the year is the crowning achievement of seventy-five
years of separate general organized life of Southern Baptists.
The Foreign Mission Board, perhaps more than any agency which
benefits by the campaign, has cause for gratitude and encourage¬
ment. The mission fields of the Board have suffered long, the
missionaries have worked without equipment, and on many fields
their labors have failed of largest fruitage because the Board
has not been able to furnish implements and to send re-enforce¬
ments. The prospect of twenty million dollars allotted to this
Board out of the seventy-five millions, and a like proportion of
whatever surplus may be realized, reassures the Board and its
workers. This relief comes just at the crucial moment in the
history of Foreign Missions. The opportuneness of the Campaign
is perhaps its chief mark of divine inspiration. This money is
made available at the time, and perhaps the first time, that til's
amount could be used wisely, economically and productively.
Equipment and re-enforcement on such a scale as is made pos¬
sible are necessary now to meet humanitarian needs which can¬
not be deferred, and to enter doors of missionary opportunity
which are likely to close if there is hesitation to enter them.
