Day of prayer
Europeans show little interest in traditional religion. The
vast majority of people have never heard a Gospel pre¬
sentation or have rejected it. Although reaching Europeans
is difficult, there is evidence that God is softening hearts.
In Germany, a couple was befriended by IMB missionaries.
After some time, they both prayed to receive Christ. The
husband's parents have since come to faith. The husband
has started a Bible study and has led another man to Christ.
In Poland, a former atheist was brought
to Jesus by a new believer. With hundreds
of thousands of Europeans continuing to
live in darkness, there is still much work
to be done. Will you help to advance the
kingdom by participating in the Day of
Prayer for European Peoples on Oct. 16,
2011? Thank you for your prayers. Connect
with us and download our prayer guide
from the Web at imbeurope.org.
Roma reaching Roma
As in most countries, the majority of Roma in Macedonia
are uneducated, unemployed and very poor. They live in
communities together and are slow to accept outsiders. They
typically adopt the religion of their host country which, in
this case, is Islam. One area of Skopje has the largest concen¬
tration of Roma in Europe. The IMB team there has found
this to be hard ground for sowing the Gospel. But a group of
Roma men from Romania who recently went to Macedonia
with a guitar, an accordion, a song and the
heart language found open doors. Bob Hill,
team leader in Romania, accompanied these
eight men and spent a week with the team
there. They were welcomed by the Roma.
DVDs of the Gospel were distributed, testimo¬
nies shared and friendships made. Pray that
the Holy Spirit will convict those who hear and
read the Word and that doors will be opened.
Roma reaching Roma. It's a God thing.
