The regular monthly meeting of the Board was held on Monday, Sept. 4th at 4 1/2 oclock P.M.
Present. Brn: Taylor, Burrows, Keesee, Snead, Watkins, Williams, E. Wortham, Evans, Winston, Dickinson, Ellyson & Gwathmey. In the absence of the President, Bro. Keesee was called to the chair.
Bro. Phillips also present was invited to sit with the Board, and offered prayer at the invitation of the President.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The Treasurer presented his monthly report as follows:-

The Cor. Sec. read letters from Miss E. [sic] Whilden & her Physician. Also from Brn. E. Z. Simmons, Crawford & Yates & Mrs. Holmes.
The Comtee on African Missions presented a report, which after the adoption of the first resolution, was laid on the table till the next meeting of the Board.
On motion, Resd. that the accounts of Bro. A. D. Phillips for salary and expenses as Missionary; and as Agent of the Board in re-establishing the African Missions be referred to the Com'tee on African Missions, who with the Cor. Sec. and Treasurer are authorised to fix his compensation and settle his accounts.
The Com'tee on Publications having failed to act upon the communication of Bro. Boykin referred to the same time since, and the Cor. Sec. having read another letter from him, and also a resolution adopted by the Sunday School Board at Memphis. On motion,
Resd. that the Cor. Sec. be instructed to inform the S.S. Board of the S.B.C. that we do not feel authorised to agree to the proposal to transfer the Home & For. Journal to Memphis, but will submit the question to the next meeting of the Convention for its action, and acquiesce in its decision.
