Foreign Mission Board Rooms
September 14, 1944
The Foreign Mission Board met in regular monthly session on Thursday,
September 14, 1944, with Mr. Jenkins presiding.

The meeting was opened with prayer by Dr. Evans.
The minutes of the July meeting were read and approved.
Dr. Maddry read a telegram telling of the death of Mrs.. J. H. Eushbrooke
and the President of the Board was asked to write Dr. Eushbrooke a letter
of sympathy.
On motion of Dr. Adams it was voted to carry out the recommendation of
Dr. Maddry that $100,000 of current funds be placed in the Reserve Emergency
Fund.
Dr. Maddry reported that the pension certificates of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil
S. Ward were lost in Hongkong and could not be returned at the termination of
their service with the Board. This is reported as a matter of record.
Dr. Macfdry reported that the Missionary Conference held at Ridgecrest in
August was well worth while and had given a new world vision and understand¬
ing to the missionaries and secretaries.
Dr. Sadler reported the recent death of Miss Elsie Cior, emeritus mission¬
ary to Palestine. Dr. Sadler was asked to write a letter of sympathy.
Dr. Sadler stated that there was a possibility of Dr. W. Dewey Moore going
to Italy in the near future. He reported that John D. Hughey and Mr. and
Mrs. John Allen Moore had been accepted by UNRRA for work in the Balkans.
Dr. Sadler read a telegram from Dr. Leslie Moss of Hew York asking for
the sup; ort cf the Foreign Mission Board in the collection of clothing to be
sent to the allied nations of Europe. On motion of Dr. Adams it was voted
to approve this plan in which the Foreign Mission Board would send an appeal
to Southern Baptist churches, the details to be worked out by the secretaries.
Dr. Gill gave a good report on Foreign Mission Week at Ridgecrest. He
stated that the situation with regard to entry of new missionaries into Brazil
was improving.
Dr. Marshall reported briefly on his trip to Mexico.
On motion of Mr. Williams it was voted to receive the file the report of
the treasurer:
