Foreign Mission Board Rooms

The Foreign Mission Board met in regular monthly $ ess ion at 4:00 p.m. on
Thursday, oept.'l, 1947 with Mr. Jenkins presiding.
Dr. Williams led in prayer.

The minutes of the July meeting were approved as read.
Dr. Rankin gave a brief oral report on the general work of the Board. He
nade comments from letters received from Dr. B. J. Cauthen on our work in
the Orient with particular e ohasis on our long range program for Japan.
He expressed appreciation of the clear grasp of situations as shown in Dr.
Cauthen' s reports and of his far sighted planning. It was a most encourag¬
ing report.
On motion of Dr. I ickerson it was voted, on the recommendation of the
Relief Committee, that the Foreign Mission Board make available 1,000 from Rehabili
tation funds for the or hanage in Rome.
Dr. Adams told of the urgent need for money of the Ba tist pastors in Roro.
On the notion of Dr. Williams it was voted to send greetings to the Italian
Baptists and to appropriate 05,000 as a special supplement for pastor's
salaries and other Baptist workers . Distribution of this amount will be
made by Dr. W. Dewey Moore and the Executive Committee of the Italian Bap¬
tist Convention.
Dr. Rankin introduced Miss Edna Frances Dawkins who has come to serve as
Office Secretary of the Department of Personnel.
On the motion of Dr. Loyinjvit was voted to accept the resignation of Dr.
Solon B. Cousins as Corresponcfilng Secretary of the Board because of his
pressing duties and his inaccessability to the Board offices which makes
it difficult for him to be reached.

Dr. Ilickerscn read excerpts of the report from Dr. Cauthen from China and
Japan.
On motion of Mr. ^wathmey it w s voted to receive and file the report of
