The full Board met for the Appointment Service on Tuesday, October 10, at 7:30 p.m. in
the First Baptist Church with Dr. Badgett presiding.
Rev. Howard J. Ford read a Scripture passage and led in prayer.
Dr. Cauthen gave the following report of the Executive Secretary.
REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY
At this meeting of the Board there is much to make us aware of the involvement of
Southern Baptists in a worldwide mission labor.
Members of this Board are elected by the Southern Baptist Convention. They come to
this city to participate directly in responsibilities that reach into sixty-five
countries. Those who have served on the Foreign Mission Board frequently have
reminded us of the privilege they sense in standing in this capacity on behalf of
Southern Baptists.
At this meeting of the Board, one of the most important matters will be the adoption
of the Budget for 1968. It amounts to $30,256,000.
This Budget represents the involvement of Southern Baptists in churches throughout our
entire fellowship. Money making possible such a ministry comes to the Foreign Mission
Board chiefly through two channels.
First of all, money is given through the Cooperative Program. The Budget for 1968 will
indicate $13,018,000 to be received through the Cooperative Program.
