Minutes of the October 18, 1849 Foreign Mission Board Meeting

Richmond, Oct. 18th 1849. At a called meeting of the Board, held in the Mission Room. Present Bre. Reynolds, Taylor, Ellyson, Bickford, Walthall, Talman, A. G. Wortham, Ryland & Sumner. Bro: Reynolds was called to the chair and Bro. Goodale offered prayer. Bre. Goodale and Bowen were invited to participate with us in our deliberations. Bro. R Ryland as chairman of the African Mission Committee reported that the committee in view of all the circumstances would recommend that Bro. Harvey [sic] Goodale be changed from the China to the Central African Mission. After due deliberations the following resolution was adopted, Resolved, that Bro. Goodale be transferred to the Central African Mission, provided, that after due consideration he may feel it to be consistent with a sense of duty. Adjourned. J S Reynolds. Pres. pro tem. M. T.
