In accordance with, the vote of the Board,
Nov. 22nd, the Board assembled at 3.30 P.M. , the Presi¬
dent presiding.
Present: Mrs. Thomas, Mrs. Moore, Miss Foster,
Brethren Mahone, Storer, Waite, Gaines, Gwathmey, Clark,
Woodfin, Montague, Jenkins, Harris. Also Secretaries
Love and Ray, and Treasurer Buxton.
Brother Clark opened the meeting with prayer.
Brother Montague read the report of the
Committee which was to consult with the attorney and rep¬
resentative of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society.
The legal points were fully explained by Brother Montague.
Brother Ray also spoke to the report.
On motion of Brother Woodfin, it was voted
that the report of the Committee be approved after the matter
has been put into final legal form and that the President
and Secretary be authorized to sign the necessary documents.
Brother Jenkins asked that he be recorded
in the negative.
The following telegram from Brother Lev¬
ering was received:
'•Understanding local members of the
Board meet today for consideration of Shanghai College reor¬
ganization proposition, I urge earnestly further postpone¬
ment until time can be given for a vote by the full mem¬
bership of the Board, This can be done promptly by special
letter to each member asking for telegraphic reply. I am •
sure any affirmative action today will create wide discus¬
sion, criticism, vigorous protest, and decreased receipts.
If possible, have my vote recorded in the negative as re¬
ceived by telegraph."
Brethren Love, Ray, Gaines and Montague were
appointed a committee to send a cablegram through the
same channels as the other cablegram.
The meeting adjourned with prayer by
Brother Waite.
