Foreign Mission Board Rooms

The Foreign Mission Board met in regular monthly session on Thursday,
November IX, 1943 at 4:00 P.M. with President Jenkins presiding.
The meeting was opened with prayer by Dr. Prickett.

The minutes of the October meeting are to be mailed to all members and were
not read.
On motion of Dr. Cousins it was voted to adopt the following report made
by the Executive Secretary:
RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY
1. The Foreign Mission Board has received, with pleasure and appreciation
through Secretary Maddry, the information that Mrs. Minnie H. Reddish of
Morganton, riorth Carolina, has executed hwe will, leaving to the Foreign —
Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, the bulk of her estate at
her decease. Mrs. Reddish wishes to establish a memorial fund to her father
and directs that the income from her estate be given to the Foreign Mission
Board year by year for the support of the missionary work of the Board in
foreign lands.
The Board, in monthly session on November 11, directs that this informa¬
tion be spread on the minutes of the Board and that the Recording Secretary be
instructed to convey to Mrs. Reddish the deep appreciation and sincere grati¬
tude of the Foreign Mission Board for this generous and Christlike thing she is
undertaking to do for the cause of foreign missions.
2. The Executive Secretary recommends to the Board that an Executive Staff
Council be created for the study and consideration of all matters coming be¬
fore the several officials and departments of the Board. This Council is to
consist of the following persons: the executive secretary, the secretary to
the executive secretary, the three regional secretaries, the treasurer, the
secretary of personnel, the book editor, the editor and managing editor of
The Commission, and the manager of the department of literature and exhibits,
this Council is instructed to hold weekly meetings, and it is understood that
all matters agreed upon by the group shall be presented to the Foreign Mission
Board through it s several working committees.
3. The Executive Secretary recommends that the Administrative Committee be
instructed to seek for a suitable person to succeed Field Representative R.S.
Jones of the Southwest, Dr. Jones having resigned to accept a position with
the Relief and Annuity 3oard.
1, The Executive Secretary recommends that the Appointment Committee be en¬
larged and called the Committee on Personnel ana Appointment.
Dr. Sadler reported that he had just returned from a meeting in New York
which had to do with reconstruction and rehabilitation overseas. He also re¬
ported that another missionary, Miss Amanda Tinkle, would soon be on her way
to Africa.
Dr. Gill reported that apparently there was a change in attitude on the part
of the Department of State and one of the young men missionaries to South America
had been granted a passport.
Dr. Marshall reported that he had recently returned from a meeting of Per¬
sonnel Secretaries of the Foreign Missions Conference and that he was attend¬
ing many B.S.U. meetings.
On motion of Mr. Williams it was voted to receive and file the following
report of the treasurer:
