R. Gwathmey was called to act. Minutes
of last Meeting and the Called Meeting of Apr. 21st,
were read and approved.
The Bills for the month were' passed
over for this meeting.
The Report of the Committee on Chi¬
na, presented by Dr. Ray was adopted as follows —
We recommend: —
1. Referring to the item on this
same subject in our Report of April 6, 1914, we recom¬
mend that we say to the North China Mission that while
we have agreed to the opening of the LaiYang Station,
we are not in position at this time to make a grant suf¬
ficiently large to provide for the needs of a full-
fledged station, and cannot therefore, appropriate the
$700 requested by the Mission. We do, however, ap¬
propriate #350 for this purpose.
2. We recommend that L/C for #5,000
be sent to the President of the Shanghai College as
our half of the Breaker Memorial Fund for the erection
of a building. The Northern Board proposes to send
another #5,000. We have received to date #3.375*70
from Missouri, and the remainder is promised within
fifty days. A L/C for #1,625.70 of this amount to be
sent on the current fund, and the remainder on the Jud-
son Centennial Fund.
3. We recommend that #1,000 be sent
to the Treasurer of the South China Mission for the
Canton Boys* Academy, the same to apply on the #8,000
listed in the Judson Centennial Fund for this object,
the Petersburg, Va. , Church having paid this amount on
its pledge.
4. We recommend that #2,500 be
listed in the Judson Centennial List of Needs for se¬
curing land at Kong Moon, South China. This is possi¬
ble on account of the fact that the Girls’ School at
Che foo listed for this amount, has been provided for
in the current fund as a memorial to Mrs. Williams
of Virginia.
The Report of the Committee on Af-
ricae was presented by Dr. Ray and was adopted —
we recommend —
That Rev. L« M. Duval be appointed
Treasurer of the African Mission, and authorization
be sent for the transfer of the power of attorney from
Dr. Geo. Green to Rev. L. M. Duval.
The Report of the Committee on
European Missions was presented by Dr. Ray and adopted.
We recommend: —
That the Board agree to pay one-
third (#833.33) of the support of ten native Russian
students at the Theological Seminary at Hamburg, Ger¬
many, during the next year. The other two-thirds of
#2,500 to be paid by the American Baptist Foreign Mis-
