Foreign Mission Board Rooms
May 15, 1947
The Foreign Mission Board met in regular monthly session at 4:00 P.M. on
Thursday, May 15, 1947, with Mr. Jenkins presiding.
Dr. Evans led in prayer.

T. J. Moore, R. E. Gaines, Mrs. Simeon Atkinson, Garis T. Dong, Miss Marjorie Moore,
E. P. Buxton, Miss Mary Hunter, Miss Kan F. “eeks, Pastor Manfredi Ronchi of Rone,
Italy.
Dr. Rankin explained that the rotation of Board members of the Southern Baptist
Convention takes effect this year and that this will cause a number of changes
in membership of the Foreign Mission Board.
Dr. Rankin stated that Dr. J. W. Marshall has accepted the presidency of
Wayland College in Plainview, Texas and read a telegram offering his resignation.
On notion of Mr. Gwathmey it was voted to accept the resignation of Dr.
Marshall as Secretary of Missionary Personnel.
Dr. Loving presented the recommendation of the Committee on Missionary
Personnel that Miss Cornelia Barker and Mrs. Charles ". Anight be appointed as
missionaries to Nigeria .
It was voted to accept the recommendation of the committee in the appointment
of these two missionaries.
Dr. Sadler delivered the charge to the missionaries and Dr. Hickerson led in
a prayer of dedication.
Dr. Sadler brought encouraging reports from Nigeria and Spain.
It was voted to receive and file the report of the treasurer.
