A called meeting of the Board was held at 4 1/2 oclock P.M. May 14th.
Present, Brethren Curry, Wortham, Williams, Clarke, Clopton, Harris, C. H. Winston, Thomas, Pollard, Hutson, Watkins, J. B. Winston and Landrum. Brethren E. A. Puthuff and C. D. Daniel of Texas, were also present, as applicants for appointment. The Prest. Bro. Curry occupied the Chair, and J. B. Watkins upon request acted as Secretary pro tem.
The President stated that the Convention had appointed brethren Landrum and Shipman, as members of the Board. The President also stated the object of the meeting to be the examination of Brethren Puthuff and Daniel for appointment to the Brazilian Mission. After the usual examination of the Brethren, and of their Credentials, the Candidates withdrew and the Board after due deliberation adopted the following resolution offered by Bro.Thomas.
Resolved, that the Board thankfully accept Brethren Puthuff and Daniel as missionaries for Brazil, provided the funds for their outfit and support for one year, be secured before their departure, and that we express our opinion, that it is desirable for these brethren, if possible to spend one year in the study of Theology before their departure.
Brethren Puthuff & Daniel then reentered the room, and received from the President and the Board a cordial greeting, to which they made a feeling response. Bro. Landrum led in prayer.
