REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY
With the appointment of twenty-six new missionaries today and the appointment
of two others, we reach a total of 1432 missionaries appointed for service in
forty-four countries.
We keep in mind that the appointment of each missionary is a matter of deep
spiritual experience. Each life represents the response to impressions of God
in the heart and a long road of preparation to do what God has indicated.
We must not take for granted the supply of mission volunteers. We must remember
the words of our Lord to pray the Lord of the harvest that He send forth
laborers into His harvest. The response of large numbers of people to go to
mission fields for life service is one of the best indications of the spiritual
state of a Christian body.
It will be observed in the recommendations being brought today for Board action
that the sum of $100,000 is being recommended for appropriation from current
funds for an additional amount required for outgoing expenses of new missionaries.
