Dr.. Cauthen ' s formal report is given below:
Report of the Executive Director
We meet today with gratitude for the experience in Atlanta. Great
numbers of letters have come indicating the blessings growing out of the
meeting of the Board in that city in April. The memory of the great
congregation assembled for the appointment service will abide in our
minds for years.
We are delighted to announce that the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at
present stands at the figure $28,314,616.58. This represents a total of
$2,145,195.46 more than the offering last year.
We have become aware that each year considerable money for the Lottie
Moon Offering comes to the Board in May. The Southern Baptist Convention
now meets annually in June. This is the same month in which the annual
meeting of Woman's Missionary Union is conducted.
It is evident there would be great value in including the receipts for
the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering in May in the final total to be
announced, and also there are values from the standpoint of these two
meetings .
