FOREIGN MISSION BOARD MINUTES
March 9, 1976
The Foreign Mission Board met in regular monthly session, Tuesday, March 9, 1976,
2:30 p.m., in the Baker James Cauthen Chapel. The First Vice-President, J. Roy
Clifford, presided.

John W. Patterson, local Board member, led in the Opening Prayer.
Minutes of the Board for February 10, 1976 were approved.
Reports of Standing Committees were heard as follows:
Committee on West Africa - Mrs. E. S. Stratton, Chairman
Mrs. Stratton presented the following recommendations:
1. THAT Dr. Samuel James be authorized to make a trip to Nigeria to be
resource person and speaker for MK retreat in Jos with possibility of
visits to Missions in Ghana and Liberia, April 11 - May 2, 1976.
2. THAT the furlough of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wicks of the Nigeria Mission
be extended from April 19, 1976 to June 1, 1976, and that they be
placed on inactive status during the period of this extension.
Upon motion of Mrs. Stratton, the Board
voted to adopt the items from West Africa,
as presented.
Committee on Middle America and the Caribbean - Scott C. Humphrey, Chairman
Mr. Humphrey presented the following recommendations:
1. THAT Rev. and Mrs. Clarence Younce be invited to serve for one year as
interim pastor of Central Baptist Church, Nassau, Bahamas, beginning in
February 1976.
2. THAT Miss Miriam Willis be transferred from the Yemen Mission, Europe
and the Middle East, to the Dominican Republic Mission, Middle America
and the Caribbean, effective March 9, 1976.
3. THAT administrative action authorizing Mr. H. Clifford Graham, Jamaica
Mission, to return to the United States for medical reasons be ratified.
4. THAT Mr. Wendall C. Parker, Guatemala Mission, be permitted to return
from furlough to Guatemala for a one-month period to assist in the
emergency relief efforts.
5. THAT Mr. and Mrs. Hubert N. Lindwall be transferred from the Panama
Mission to the Guatemala Mission, effective April 1, 1976.
