The Foreign Mission Board met in regular monthly session at ii:00 p.m.
on ’Thursday, June 8, 1950 with Mr. Jenkins presiding.

Dr. J. G. Loving the following candidates were appointed
as regular missionaries:
Miss Vera Campbell, Japan
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lawson Harris, Latin America

Mr. and Mrs. ".Yilliam Aubrey Hickman, Jr., Latin America

The following candidates were appointed as special contract workers:
Mr. and Mrs. William Ralph Davis, Nigeria
Miss Emily Virginia Head, Colombia
Dr. Rankin gave the cha\gs to the new missionaries and i)r. Long led in
prayer of dedication.
Dr. Rankin gave a very brief report about plans for the preaching mission
to Japan. He stated that Jr. C. 0. Johnson, Dr. Ellis Fuller, dr. Duke
McCall, and Dr. W. A. Criswell are planning to make a trip to Nigeria,
Palestine, India, Siam, Philippine Islands and Hong Kong oh their way
to Japan. Dr. Rankin also stated that Dr. Ciuthen is making his plans
to return to Hong Kong following the preaching mission to Japan, where
he will be joined by his family.
Cn motion of Dr. Hickerson it was voted to accept with regret the
resignation of Mr. and ..irs. J.

Adair of Nigeria because of health
problems which exist in the family, effective August 1, 1950.
Dr. Rankin read a note of appreciation that had come from a church in
Paris, France, expressing appreci :tion of the gift which was sent to
help rebuild their bombed building.
On motion of Dr. Coleman it was voted to elect Dr. Garis T. Long as
Recording Secretary of the Foreign Mission Board.
Dr. Rankin introduced Dr. Manfredi Ronchi of Rome, Italy, who is in
this country in connection with the meeting of the baptist World
Alliance. Dr. Ronchi spoke briefly about Baptist work in Italy.

Mr. President and Members of the Foreign Mission Board:
We are happy to announce the final transfer of the Spanish language
school from Medellin, Colombia, to San Jose, Costa Rica. Ihe difficulties
in securing premanent visas in Colombia made it necessary to move. Some
of the students who have not completed their courses in Medellin will
continue them in San Jose. We are receiving valuable help from our mis¬
sionary stationed in Costa Rica, Rev. Van Earl Hughes. In all probability
we •will have twenty-one students enrolled in the language school this fall.
We are happy to announce the securing of a visa for Dr. Julius Hickerson
to teach in the Seminary in Cali, Colombia when it is established. An
excellent property has already been purchased, and we are hoping that
