The Foreign Mission Board met in Convention-wide session at Ridgecrest, North Carolina,
June 26, 27, 28, 1972, with the President of the Board, Dr. Drew J. Gunnells, Jr., pre¬
siding.

V. Lave 11 Seats, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. (Unfortunately, Dr. Luther
Copeland, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary was unable to be present.)
Emeritus Missionaries and Mrs. Everett Gill, Jr., wife of the former area secretary for
Latin America; and Dr. George W. Sadler, former area secretary for Africa, Europe and
the Near East, were given special recognition.
Board members and staff and their husbands and wives were seated at adjoining tables in
a reserved section of the Ridgecrest dining hall which provided an opportunity for in-
individuai introductions and "getting acquainted."
Following the meal and a delightful period of fellowship, Board members and staff, the
missions professors, and Mr. and Mrs. Owen Cooper, adjourned fora brief session in
Rooms 58 and 54 on the second floor. Auditorium Annex. Dr. Cauthen conveyed a brief
but cordial welcome to all Board members, with special appreciation for the two newly
elected members: Rev. John W. Goodwin from KirksvJIJe, Missouri; and Mrs. Thomas C.
Womble, Clemmons, North Carolina. Special recognition was given to Dr. Ralph M. G.
Smith, Board member from Kirksville, Missouri, who rotated off Board membership at the
meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, June 5-8, 1972.
Dr. Cauthen recognized Mr. and Mrs. Owen Cooper and extended the appreciation of the
Board and its staff for their presence at every meeting that they may be able to attend.
Mr. P. N. Kurien, director of the All India Prayer Fellowship, was recognized. Mr.
Kurien gave' an interesting survey of the work in which he is engaged and presented copies
of the New American Standard New Testament, Soul Winner's Edition, to all who were present.
The group adjourned in time to attend the Ridgecrest program at 7:30 p.m.

The entire week was blessed by the music rendered by the Youth Choir of Eastern Hills
Baptist Church, Montgomery, Alabama, the church of which the President of the Board, Dr.
Drew J. Gunnells, Jr, was pastor.
