REPORT OF SECRETARY FOR MISSIONARY EDUCATION AND PROMOTION
One of the most amazing and transforming miracles Jesus performed was the healing
of the Gadarene, a man with an unclean spirit, who dwelt in the tombs and whom no
man could bind, no not with chains.
After Jesus had restored this man who had been "possessed with demons," he prepared
to take ship to return to the other side of the sea. As he did so, the healed man
beseechingly prayed to Jesus that he might be permitted to go with him. But "Jesus
suffered him not, but saith unto him, *Go home to thy friends and tell them how
great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.' And
he departed and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for
him; and all men did marvel. (Mark 5s 19-20)
After Paul and Barnabas had completed their first missionary journey they "sailed
to Antioch (of Syria) from where they had been recommended to the Grace of God
for the work which they fulfilled. And when they were come, and had gathered the
church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them and how he had
opened the door of faith unto the Sfentiles." (Acts lU:26-27)
