The Foreign Mission uoard met in regular monthly session at 3:30 p.m.
on Thursday, June lU, 1951, with Mr. Jenkins presiding.

On motior of Dr. J. 1. Lovin -, the following candidates were appointed
as regular missionaries of the Board:
Mr. and Mrs. Burley Edward Cader, Brazil
Miss Margie Estelle Davis, Nigeria
Miss Virginia Katherine Terry, Brazil
Dr. Rankin -ave the charge to the new missionaries and Jr. J. T.
..-Lilians led in a prayer of dedication.
Dr. Rankin gave the following report:
The staff of the Foreign M ission :>oard covers the earth. Dr. Gill
has .lust returned from a trip to Mexico, Central America, Colombia,
Peru, and Ecuador in South America. A few days after his return
Dr. Sadler left on a trip to uurope and the Near East. At the time
we are meeting here, he is in Palestine helping the missionaries in
dealin - with some difficult problems of mission administration.
A good number of us will be leaving within the next few aays for
San "rancisco to attend the meeting of the Southern Baptist Con¬
vention. Grom there I will fly on to Honolulu for a week of
conferences with the executive Committee of the Hawaiian Baptist
Mission and a number of individual missionaries.
Dr. Means and Mr. Scofield will leave Gan Francisco at the same
time on a trip that will take them to Honolulu, Japan, Formosa,
Hongkong, Philippine Islands, Siam and on through India and the
Hear East and across Europe to New York. Dr. leans is going to
secure firsthand information about the pro: -ram of world missions
which the Foreign Mission Board employs him to promote through
the department of missionary education and promotion. Mr. Scofield
is going to take pictures for use as audio- visual materials.
Dr. Baker Janies Cauthen will arrive in Richmond on July 2 to be
here until the end of au -ust. He will set up arrangements with
our China missionaries for their reassignments and future plans
of work, lie will return to Japan in time to help make final
arrangements for the Japan Preaching Mission and will make his
headquarters in Tokyo for the coming winter.
Dr. Rankin read the following letter from Dr. J. B. Hipps:

Dear Dr. Rankin :
Since I am to be Professor of Missions at the Southeastern Baptist
Seminary at V.-ake Forest, N. C., and expect to begin my responsibilities
there on Jul 1, I am writing to recuest that Mrs. Birps and I be
put on the Board's retired list of missionaries, as of July 1, 1951*
I was a' pointed a missionary of our Board early in July, 1913. The
closing of my active service with th Board the first of July will
mean that I have served the Foreign Mission Board and our mission
work in China almost exactly thirty-eight years. I am glad that
