The Board met in called session with Dr. Ryland, pro. tens [sic], in the chair. The meeting was opened with prayer by Bro. Ryland Gwathmey. The chairman stated that the Board met to hear the report of the Committee on the trouble in Bahia, and Dr. Hatcher by the request of the chairman read the report of the Committee. The report is as follows, which report after discussion was adopted.
"Your Committee has received the correspondence and other papers referred by the Board to us, and find that a division in the First Baptist Church of Bahia has occurred, of so serious a nature that it not only threatens the unity of the Church, but imperils the work of our mission. Therefore, Resolved, That a council be called, consisting of Revs. W. B. Bagby, F. F. Soren, and W. H. Cannada, with instructions from this Board to investigate the whole matter, and, if possible, to effect a reconciliation of the now divided Church. Or, if an agreement for union is impracticable, to make such recommendations to the brethren in Bahia as will restore peace and save the cause, reporting to the Board their action at the earliest practicable moment.
Resolved, That if anyone of the brethren named cannot act on this council, the remaining two shall call in a third brother to act with them.
