Board Rooms, July 25th, 1935,
The Board met in regular session at 3 P. M. in the
Board Rooms with President Jenkins presiding.
The following were present: Brethren Jenkins, Gwath-
mey, Pruden, Bryant, Coleman, Williams, Matthews, Slaughter,
Montague, Harris and Loving; Mrs. Thomas, Miss Foster, Mrs.
Atkinson; also Dr. Maddry, Executive Secretary, Miss Ford,
Assistant to the Executive Secretary, Brother Jones, Field
Representative, Mr. Buxton, Treasurer, Miss Hunter and Miss
Coleman; also Miss Lanneau and Ur. and Mrs. Lowe of China,
Mrs. Maddry, and Dr. W. 0. Carver, of Louisville.
The first item taken up was the appointment of new
missionaries. The following were examined by the Board, Dr.
Maddry conducting the examination: Miss Alberta Steward of
Missouri, Miss Dorothy Carver of Kentucky, Miss Ruth Lucille
Ford of Illinois, Miss Helen McCullough of Texas, Dr. William
L. Wallace of Tennessee, and Mr. and Mrs. Philip E. White
of North Carolina.
On motion the following report of the Committee on
Appointments was adopted:
After a careful and individual investigation the
Appointment Committee recommends the appointment of the
following as missionaries of the Foreign Mi ssion Board:

Miss Ruth Ford
Dr. William L. Wallace
Miss Dorothy Carver
Miss Alberta Steward

These young people coming in were apprised of their
appointment and a prayer of dedication was offered by Dr.
Carver.
The resignations of Brethren H. M. Fugate of Georgia
and W. R. White of Texas, since they were moving from their
respective states, were accepted with expressions of appre¬
ciation for their excellent work in behalf of this Board.
The report of the Administrative Committee was read
by Brother Montague and adopted as follows:
VQ That the Treasurer be authorized to transfer to the
Morris Plan Bank of Richmond the sum of $4,200.00 now on
deposit in the First and Merchants National Bank, represent¬
ing a part of the Lottie Moon Offering funds now held by the
Board pending instructions from the W. M. U.
That we say to the Executive Committee of the South¬
ern Baptist Convention that we do not feel we can agree to .
the increase requested for the Baptist Brotherhood of the
South.
That in view of the fact that the Baptist World Al¬
liance is now asking that the $1,000.00 granted for 1936
be paid during 1935, that we say to Dr. Rushbrooke that the
whole matter will come up for review at the October meeting
of the Foreign Mission Board.
