A Commissioning Service, for Missionary Journeymen, was held in the Monument
Heights Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia, 7:30 p.m., July 22, 1977. John W.
Patterson, second vice-president of the Board, presided.
Mr. Stan Romanstine served as Chorister, Miss Amy Ashworth as Pianist and Miss
Susan Gay as Organist.
The service opened with the Processional: "God of Grace and God of Glory."
Guest were recognized by the presiding officer.
Greg Holden, former missionary journeyman, read a passage of Scripture and led in
prayer.
The Missionary Journeymen rendered a special number: "Go Ye into All the World."
Louis Cobbs, secretary for Missionary Personnel, introduced the Journeyman Training
Program. Stanley A. Nelson, associate secretary for Missionary Personnel, brought
a report of the Training Program for 1977.
Ray Spence, local Board member, gave a response from the Committee on Missionary
Personnel .
The audience joined in singing the Hymn: "In Christ There Is No East or West."
Dr. Stanley A. Nelson, of the Board staff, brought a Charge to the Parents of the
Missionary Journeymen.

The Missionary Journeymen rendered another special number: "Ye Shall Be Witnesses."
Vance C. Kirkpatrick, missionary to Kenya, led in the Commitment of the Missionary
Journeymen.
Dr. Baker J. Cauthen, executive director, gave a Charge to the Missionary Journeymen
and presented Commissioning Certificates.
Mike Lundy, director of training, led in the Paryer of Dedication.
Keith Parks, director of the Mission Support Division, pronounced the Benediction.
Following the Commissioning Service, a briefing for parents of Missionary Journeymen
was held in the front of the sanctuary.
Following the entire service, the Journeymen met for a period of fellowship in the
parlor of the Foreign Mission Board.
