A Commissioning Service, for Missionary Journeymen, was held in the Tabernacle
Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia, 7:30 p.m., July 20, 1979. Raymond L. Spence,
Jr., local Board member, presided.
Anne Blackwell, served as pianist and Lisa Barry as organist.
The Service opened with the Processional Hymn: "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee."
Guests were recognized by the presiding officer.
Charles E. Wilson, former missionary journeyman, read a passage of Scripture and
led in Prayer.
The Missionary Journeymen rendered a special number: "Lord Listen To Your
Children Praying."
Louis R. Cobbs, secretary for Missionary Personnel, introduced the Journeyman
Training Program. Stanley A. Nelson, associate secretary for Missionary Personnel,
brought a report of the Training Program for 1979. B. Ross Morrison, Board member
from the District of Columbia, brought a response from the Missionary Personnel
Committee.
The audience joined in singing the Hymn: "God of Grace and God of Glory."
Stanley Nelson, of the Board staff, brought a Charge to the Parents of the
Missionary Journeymen.

The Journeymen rendered another special number: "Ye Shall Be Witnesses."
Gilbert A. Nichols, missionary to Paraguay, led in the Commitment to Missionary
Journeymen.
Baker J. Cauthen, executive director of the Foreign Mission Board, gave a Charge
to the new Journey, and presented Certificates of Commissioning.
Louis R. Cobbs, of the Board staff, led in the Prayer of Dedication.
Lynn E. Hawkins, resident director of Missionary Journeyman Training, pronounced
the Benediction.
Following the Commissioning Service, a briefing for parents of Missionary
Journeymen, was held in the front of the sanctuary.
Following the entire service, the Journeymen met for a period of fellowship in
the fellowship hall of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.
