On motion of Dr. Loving it was voted to adopt the ? 33 wing resolution:

BE IT RESOLVED that the Board will authorize the appointments commi ttee
to meet in an extraordinary session for the purpose of the exami.M...; and

On motion of Dr. Loving the following candidates were appointed as
regular mission.' rios of the Board:

Dr. Rankin gave the charge to the new mis si carries and Rev. Elmer '.Vest
led in prayer of dedication.
Dr. Rankin stated in his report that the Commission going t Nigeria
would leave the United States immediately after the ating of the
Baptist World Alliance in Cleveland. Four . rs of the Japan
. reaching Mission had planned to go to Nigeria, also, and from there
on around through the Hear East and India to Japan in time to join
the other ■ enters of the Preaching Mission. However, these plans
have now V eri cancelled in view of the .disturbed conditions in the
Far East. As

t, there have been no plans to cancel the plans for
the Japan trip, although it is possible th- conditions mig
one the Mission.
Dr. Rankin also stated that Dr. J. T. Williams will be invited tv
locate in Richmond so that he can help us in working on the files.
It is urgent that the missionary correspondence in particular be put
into usable shape and Jr. Williams will be glad to use his time during
the next year in this connection. He vail retain his status as a
regularly appointed missionary.
un motion of Dr. Hickerson it was voted that in view of the fact that
the Foreign Mission Board will not meet in August, and that it is urgent
to prove 1 litOrial assistance for THE COMMISSION as soon as possible,

of an assistant editor to replace Dr. Horienhaug and an editorial
