Foreign Mission Board Rooms
July 10, 1947
The Foreign Mission Board met in regular monthly session at
4:00 P. M, on Thursday, «July 10, 1947 with Mr# Jenkins presiding.
Dr. Coleman led in prayer.
Present: L. H. Jenkins, T. Rupert Coleman, Mrs. T. Justin Moore,
J. G. Loving, G. W. Sadler, M. T. Rankin, R. E. Gaines, T. F. Adams,
Mrs. Simeon Atkinson, Clyde V. Hickerson, Miss Marjorie Moore,
E. C. Routh, E. P. Buxton, Miss Mary Hunter, Miss Gene Newton,
Miss Blanche White, Miss Ruby Lee, Garis T. Long, John C. Williams,
George W. Sadler, Mr. Edward Humphrey.
The minutes of the June meeting were approved as read.
Dr. Loving presented the following candidates for appointment
as missionaries:
Miss Ernelle Brooks, Nigeria
James A. Foster, China
Miss Jo Withauer, Brazil
On motion of Dr. E0ying it was voted that these condidates be
appointed as missionaries to the fields indicated.
Dr. Rankin delivered the charge to the missionaries and Or, Gaines
led in a prayer of dedication.
Dr. Rankin reported that he had recently attended the meeting
of the Mexican Mission in Torreon, Mexico. He also reported that
he, Dr. Sadler, Miss Moore would attend the Baptist World
Alliance from the office staff and that Dr. T. Rupert Coleman
and Dr. T. F. Adams would be among the Board members who would
attend.
On motion of Mr. Williams it was voted that the expenses of Miss
Marjorie Moore, above the guest ticket of the tour to Europe,
be cared for by the Foreign Mission Board.
Dr. Sadler presented the resignations of Kiss Ruby Daniel who on
July 5 married Dr. Bela Udvarnoki of Hungary, and Dr. and Mrs.
H. Glenn Walker of Nigeria, who offer their resignation on
account of their son's health.
It was voted to accept the resignations of these three missionaries:
Dr. and Mrs. H. Glenn Walker
Miss Ruby Daniel
On motion of Dr. Adams it was voted to approve the going of Dr.
Sadler to our European Missions and Nigeria after he attends the
meeting of the Baptist World Alliance in Copenhagen.
Dr. Rankin read portions of Dr. Gill's report from Chile.
Dr. Rankin announced the death of Dr. R. F, Elder, emeritus
missionary to Argentina, on July 7, 1947.
It was voted to receive and file the report of the treasurer.
