The regular monthly meeting of the Board was held on Monday, July 1st. at 5 oclock. P.M.
Present Brn: Jeter, Tupper, Warren, Dickinson, Jones, Watkins, Goddin, Ellyson, Williams, C. H. Winston & Gwathmey.
In the absence of the President, Bro. Jeter V. Prest took the Chair; and prayer was offered by Bro. Warren.
Minutes were read and approved.
The Treasurer presented his monthly report as follows:-

The Cor. Sec. presented a letter from Bro. G. B. Taylor, which on motion, was referred to the Committee on European Missions. The following report was presented; and having been approved & adopted by a large majority of the Board, on the 18th of June ult: (as indicated by the signatures of sixteen members) was ordered to be recorded.
The Com'tee on Agencies who were charged by the Board with the duty of "taking immediate steps to raise the funds for the Rome Chapel," report:-
1. That the Pastors of Richmond, with the concurrence of the Board, having invited the Churches of the South to make a special collection for the Chapel on the 2d. Sabbath in July, the Comtee hope that by the blessing of God, the whole amount needed may be realized on that occasion.
2. That should the full amount not be collected then, it will be too late to put into operation any other agency to complete the work, and hence the Com'tee recommend the adoption of the following resolution.
1. Resd. that the following brethren in view of the peculiar exigency of the case, be affectionately solicited to undertake at the expense of the Board, personally, or by such agencies as they may appoint, the securing of the quotas of their respective states, opposite their names before the 1st. day of Augt. next.
1. Resd. that in view of the shortness of the time, if any one of these gentlemen is unable to serve the Convention as requested, he be and is hereby authorised and urged to seek promptly the kind offices of another who can and will render the desired and important service.
