The Comtee on African Missions presented the following report, which was adopted.
The Comtee on Afrn. Missions beg leave to report that after much perplexity with regard to the anomalous state of our Missions in Africa and our inability to respond to the piteous appeals of our suspended Missionaries there for pecuniary aid, they hope that some Providential solution of our troubles may be near at hand. Three brethren have made application to be sent to this field of labor. Two from the colored Theo. seminary of this City, and one from the Crozer Institution. The former brethren Colley and Bunts are recommended by Rev. Mr. Corey, Prest. of the Richmd. Institute, and expect to present a formal recommendation from some colored church or Society; and also to receive support at least in part, from the colored Missionary Society of Richmond. A recent letter from the latter, Bro. W. J. David, will be read to the Bd. by the Cor. Sec. The Chn. of the Comtee is happy to state that he is about to send to Africa, some 300 or 400 volumes, bought and collected from Sabbath Schools there: and the readiness with which these donations have been made encourages the conviction that with proper efforts all that is needed for the support of the Missions may be raised. With a view of resuscitating the Missions as soon as possible, and of affording immediate encouragement and relief to our suspended missionaries, who have shown a self sacrificing spirit, worthy of all commendation, the Comtee would recommend the adoption of the following resolutions.
1. Resd. that on the recommendation of Rev. Mr. Corey, and of the colored Missionary Society, or either of the colored churches of this City,
