The Board met in called session at 4:30 p, M. with President
Jenkins presiding.
The meeting was opened with prayer by Brother Cousins.
The following members were present: Brethren Slaughter, Wood,
Gwathmey, Matthews, Cousins, Bryant, Jenkins, Harris, Loving and Mon¬
tague; also Executive Secretary, Dr. Maddry, Assistant Executive Secre¬
tary, Miss Ford, Educational Secretary Bowen and Treasurer Buxton.
On motion the Secretary was authorized to lock into the status
of a lot at Ridgecrest, and if it seemed advisable, to dispose of it.
On motion the following resolution was adopted unanimously:
RESOLVED, by the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist
Convention, that the President of this Board be, and he is, hereby
authorized and directed to execute, for and on behalf of this Board,
a certain oil and gas lease in duplicate between it and Clarence Angle,
dated January 7, 1937, embracing a certain tract of land situated in
the County of Stephens, in the State of Oklahoma, and described as
follows: The South Half of the Southwest Quarter of the Northwest
Quarter, and the Southwest Cuarter of the Southeast Quarter of the
Northwest Quarter, and the northwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter,
and the West Half of the Northeast Quarter of the Southwest Quarter,
upon the consideration of one dollar ($1) and other valuable considera¬
tions recited in said lease.
On motion the following resolution was adopted unanimously:
RESOLVED, by the Board of Truste- s of the Foreign Mission Board
of the Southern Baptist Convention, a corporation organized and exist¬
ing under the laws of Virginia, that the sale of fifty-one (51) shares
of the preferred stock of the Virginia Electric and Power Company,
owned by this corporation, be, and the same is, hereby approved and
confirmed, and that E. p. Buxton, Treasurer of the Foreign Mission Board
of the Southern Baptist Convention, be, and he is, hereby authorized to
make the proper legal transfer of said shares of stock.
On motion the Board adjourned with prayer by Brother Gwathmey.
