Foreign Mission Board Rooms January IS, 1944 The Foreign ’fission Board met in regular monthly session at 4:00 P. M. on Thursday, January IS, 1944. with President Jenkins in the chair. On motion of Dr. Adams the following report of the Executive Secretary was adopted : RECOMMENDATIONS: 1. That W. B. Johnson be elected as Director of Schools of Missions to work in conjunction with Director L. W. Martin of the Home Board and the state foroes. 2. That the following missionaries be designated as Directors in their re¬ spective states: Alabama - J. T. Williams California - J. F. Ray Georgia - D. F. Stamps Mississippi - H. M. Harris Missouri - Frank H. Connely North Carolina - L. Bun Olive Oklahoma - Eugene L. Hill South Carolina - H. H. Snuggs Texas - H. H. Muir he ad 3. That Director Johnson and the Executive Secretary be instructed and em¬ powered to select directors in the other states of the Convention. 4. That the Executive Secretary be instructed to seek a conference with the officials of the American Baptist Home Mission Societies (men and wo¬ men) concerning the invitation for the launching of work in Alaska, the findings and recommendations to be submitted to the next meeting of the Boa rd. 5. That the secretaries be instructed to complete as soon as possible the brochure or booklet concerning the present status and future needs of the work of the Board in all lands and that this brochure be printed by March 1 if possible. 6. That the Secretaries be instructed to prepare a list and an estimate of all the property war losses of the Board in Europe and China together with a list of the personal losses of each missionary in the war-torn lands. 7. That these losses be presented to the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention with the request that the matter be presented to the Con¬ vention for such action as the Convention may deem wise under all the cir¬ cumstances. 8. That the Executive Secretary and Regional Secretaries Rankin and Sadler bo instructed to present these losses to a called meeting of the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention and this Board hereby requests the Chairman and Executive Secretary of the Executive Committee to call a meeting in March to consider this matter. 9. That the Board elect a member to succeed Dr. Wade Bryant who has re¬ signed. 10. That H. H. McMillan be designated as a special worker of the Board to do some of the work of the 3oard formerly done by Field Representative R. S. Jones and to assist the secretaries in filling the ever-increasing
