Foreign Mission Board Rooms,
January 11, 1940
The Foreign Llission Board met in regular monthly session at 4:00 P. M.
on January 11th with President Jenkins in the chair.
There were present Brethren Jenkins, Alley, Loving, Harris, Bryant,
J. C. Williams, Adams, Montague, R. A. Williams, and lirs. Atkinson; also

Secretary, R. S. Jones; Treasurer, E. P. Buxton; Publicity Secretary, Miss
Coleman; Secretary for the Orient, M. T. Rankin.
The following visitors were present: Mrs.

Jones and Miss F. Catharine Bryan of Shanghai, China.
It was reported that Miss Alta Foster was absent on account of illness
and that Dr.

C. Coleman had to conduct a funeral service.
The meeting vras opened with prayer by Dr. Loving.
The minutes of the December meeting were read and approved.
Dr. Maddry called the attention of the Board members to the severe
loss sustained by the Board in the death of the following eleven missionaries
during 1939:

Dr. Maddry also read a letter from Mr. Maxey Jannan of Nashville,
Tennessee enclosing a gift of $2, 500 .00 from the Jannan Foundation and a
gift of S34 shares in the stock of the General Shoe Corporation from Mr.
Jarman.
