Foreign Mission Board Rooms,
Thursday, February 9th, 1939,
The Board met in regular monthly session in the Board Rooms at 3:00
P, M, , on Thursday, February 9th, with President Jenkins presiding.
The meeting was opened with prayer by Brother Aubrey Williams.
The following were present: Brethren Matthews, Bryant, Williams,
Coleman, Cousins, Lovinp, Montague, Jenkins, Adams, Harris, Miss Foster,
Mrs. Atkinson, Mrs. Wicker and Mrs. Moore; also Executive Secretary, Dr.
Maddry, Executive Assistant, Miss Ford, Home Secretary, R. S. Jones,
Business Manager of THE COMMISSION, J. H. Jones, Manager of Department of
Literature and Exhibits, Miss Hunter, Editorial Secretaries, Miss Coleman
and Miss Weeks, and Treasurer, Mr. Buxton.
The following visitors were also present: Dr. and Mrs. W. C. Taylor,
of Brazil; Rev. Carlton S. Prickett, of Richmond; Miss Ruth Kersey, of
Africa; Mrs. Gilliland, of Dallas, Texas; Mrs. R. S. Jones and Mrs. Mary
Bowden.
The following prospective missionaries were also present: Rev. Albert
I. Bagby, -Rev. ViTilliam Lowrey Cooper, Rev. and Mrs.

T. Griffin, and
Rev. and Mrs. Frank W. Patterson.
Dr. Maddry gave an interesting account of his trip abroad especially
his account of our work in Palestine and Italy, with brief reference to
his experiences at Madras.
APPOINTMENT The report of the Committee on Appointments was read and after a
COMMITTEE brief examination of the candidates was adopted as follows:
After careful consideration and examination, the Appointment Committee
recommends the appointment of the following candidates to the places indicated:
Rev. Albert Ian Bagby, Pelotas, Brazil
Rev. and Mrs. William Lowrey Cooper, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Rev. and Mrs. Bennie Theodore Griffin, Lagos, Nigeria, Africa
Rev. and Mrs. Frank Willard Patterson, El Paso, Texas, for
work in the Mexican Publishing House
On motion of Brother Montague it was voted that Dr. M. T, Rankin
come home by way of Palestine, when he returns on furlough next summer.
On motion the request of Dr. Gill to make a special visit home was
referred to the European Committee with power to act.
On motion the request of Dr. Whittinghill to remain at his post after
February until April 1st at his own expense was granted.
