The President called the meeting to order.
The audience joined in singing the Hymn: "From Greenland's Icy Mountains,”
led by Sidney C. Reber.
Raymond Spence, local Board member, read a passage of Scripture and led in the
opening prayer.
The President recognized guests who were present and extended a cordial welcome
to them.
Minutes of the 3oard for January 10, 1978 were approved.
The President recognized Baker J. Cauthen, the executive director, and ex¬
pressed on behalf of the Board and staff deep gratitude for his return to
active service, from his recent illness.
Dr. C-uthen reported briefly on the enco.-ragerm-nt that is felt from the good
report on Cooperative Program and Lottie Moon Christmas Offering receipts to
date. He highlighted briefly the activities relative to the forthcoming semi¬
annual meeting of the 3oard to be held in Fort Worth, Texas, April 10-12, 1978.
He asked that the 3oard and staff be very much in prayer on behalf of this
significant meeting.
The President recognized the Director of the Management Services Division,
Sidney C. Reber.

Report of the Director, Management Services Division
Kirke White, Jr. of Richmond, has accepted the position of Records Manager
it- our Business Department. He will begin February 20. Kirke has been with
the Virginia State Library since 1971 and currently holds the position of
Archivist. His primary responsibilities include the inventory and microfilming
of records in county court houses throughout Virginia.
Kirke graduated from Hampton-Sydney College and received his Masters Degree
from the University of North Carolina. He is a member of the Society of
American Archivists and the Association of Records Managers and Administrators.
He has published a number of articles in his field. Kirke is married and has
two children.
We are fortunate to have a young man with such strong professional credentials
join our staff and provide the leadership for our records program.
