The Foreign Mission Board met in monthly session at 4:00 P.M. on Thursday,
February 14, 1946, with Mr. Jenkins presiding.
Dr. Hickerson led in prayer.
Present: Clyde V. Hiokerson, L. Howard Jenkins, M. T. Pankin,

M. Gwathmey,
J. G. Loving, Mrs. J. J. Wicker, Mrs. T. J. Moore, Miss Marjorie Moore, Miss Mary
Hunter, E. C. Pout’n, E. P. Buxton, Everett L. Deane, T. Rupert Coleman, J. L. Evans,
J. W. Marshall, Mrs. Simeon Atkinson, Miss Gene Newton.
The minutes of the January meeting were approved as read.
Dr. Rankin stated that the Administrative Committee was recommending that the
limit of appointees to be brought to Richmond for examination at the April meeting
be raised from fifty to sixty. It is encouraging that this number is now avail¬
able.
Dr. Rankin reported that the Educational Committee was working on the matter of
securing a promotional secretary. Investigations are being 'made but the committee
is not prepared to make a report.
Dr. Gill continues to send good reports and is working with the missionaries in
rearrangements in the work. Ho reports have come from Dr. Sadler other than the
notice of his arrival in Palestine.
Dr. Rankin expressed pleasure at having Everett Deane back with the staff.
Гг.
Cauthen reported that the news from China is encouraging and there is room
for thanksgiving. The property losses are much less than anticipated. The
Chinese brethren are organized to carry on the work. The picture is not as bright
in North China as in the South and Central China missions. This week there are
all China meetings being held in Shanghai looking toward the reorganization of
our work. One of the major matters of concern now is that of theological education.
Dr. Marshall reported that his department is working on the screening
process of the candidates for April appointment and at the present time there is
a probability of fifty- nine candidates who will be brought to Richmond.
Dr. Routh reported a press run for the Commission of 77,000 for March.
On motion of Mr. Gwathmey it was voted to receive and file the report of the
treasurer:
