Foreign Mission Board Rooms
February 12, 1942
The Foreign Mission Board met in regular monthly session at 4:00 P. M. on
Thursday, February 12, 1942 -with President Jenkins in the chair.
There were present Brethren Jenkins, Maddry, Bryant, Buxton, Prickett, Gill,
Adams, Coleman, R. Aubrey Tfilliams, Seever, Alley, Loving, Bryant, Montague,
Mrs. Moore, Miss Foster, and Mrs. Atkinson.
The following visitors were present: Dr. and Mrs. P. S. Kvans, Jr., Dr. John
W. Lowe and Miss Lucy Smith.
The meeting was opened with prayer by Brother Bryant.
The minutes of the meeting of January 8 were approved as read.
On motion of Dr. Adams it was voted to approve the following action which
has been taken by the br Emergency Council:
January 10 - 1. That a grant of $500.00 be made from China Relief funds
to be sent to the Herman

E. Liu Orphanage at Siufu
and that the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society
in New York be asked to transmit the funds for this Board.
2. The following cablegram was sent to Miss Katie Murray in
Chengchow, China through the American Embassy: "FUNDS
SENT BEDD0E FOR CHENGCHOW LAST WEEK IF FURTHER FUNDS
NEEDED WILL SEND TO YOUR CREDIT BANK OF CHINA CHUNGKING
USE YOUR OWN JUDGMENT BUT SELL EQUIPMENT ONLY AS LA. ST
RESORT."
3. The following cablegram was sent to R. E. Beddoe in
'.«chow: "CA3LE FROM CHENGCHOW INDICATES DESPERATE
SITUATION SEND FUNDS MURRAY IMMEDIATELY CABLE US RE¬
SULTS."
4. That $1250 be sent to Wagon-Lits in Geneva to bring Roy
F. Starmer and family out of Europe and that this be
charted to European Relief.
5. That the services of the Foreign Mission Board be offered
to the War Emergency Committee in Atlanta and that we ask
that a minimum of $300,000 be set as the goal for this
campaign.
January 12 - 6. $10,000 was sent to Dr. R. E. Beddoe in Wuchow in the
hope that he might contact the missionaries of the North
China Mission.
February 10 - 7. That Mr. Buxton be authorized to merge funds received
for China and European relief since January 1, 1942 into
the Baptist World Emergency Relief funds.
8. That $1,000.00 be sent to Spain to be used for relief
work Rt the discretion of Mrs. Bengtson.
9. That $700.00 be sent to the Herman

E. Liu Orphanage
in Siufu, Free ^hina, with the understanding that this
gift, together with $500.00 sent in January, represents
an appropriation of $100.00 per month from relief funds
for the Orphanage for the calendar year.
10. That $1,000 be sent to Macao for relief work when the mis¬
sionaries there cable receipt of budget funds sent the
latter part of December.
11. To complete the payment of $200,000 for British Relief
out of the first funds received in the World Emergency
Relief campaign.
