The Foreign Mission Board met in regular monthly session at 3:30 p.m. on
Thursday, February 11, 1954, with Mr. Jenkins presiding.

On the motion of Dr. McDanel it was voted to adopt the following report of
the Administrative Committee:
Recommendations :
1. That the resignation of Rev. Lloyd A. Sparkman of Arkansas be accepted
with regret. Mr. Sparkman moved to Mississippi on February 1.
2. That $35,000 be appropriated from Advance Program Funds for the purchase
of Seminary property in Santiago, Chile. This amount will be deducted
from Latin America's share of Advance Program Funds to be distributed
at a later date.
3. That the sum of $30,247 of unused China Budget Funds earmarked for use
in the Orient be appropriated as follows:
Formosa: Land, Sunday School bldg, and improvements, Kaohsiung $ 4,900
Improvements at Church Property, Tainan 1,500
Improvements at Church Property, Chiayi 1,500
Additional for Church Building, Taichung 2,000
Lend and Chapel, Feng Yuan 5,250
lend and Building for East Street Chapel, Hsinchu 4,000
Three Chapels, Taipeh 9,000

4. That the rehabilitation and forward movement reserve accounts be closed
as of December 31, 1953, with unpaid appropriations remaining in these
accounts to be carried forward as regular appropriations of the current
fund and any unappropriated amount be closed into surplus.
5. That the sum of $112,368.09 in rehabilitation funds (now classified as
current funds) earmarked for Japan be appropriated as follows:
Completion of classroom building, Japan Baptist Seminary $ 50,000.00
Enlargement, Japan Baptist Hospital 62,368.09

6. That Mr. Scofield be authorized to make a survey trip to Europe and the
Near East in the summer of 1954 to make preparations for the 1955 mission
study theme: "The Moslem TTorld." The purpose of the tour is threefold:
to lay the ground work for a motion picture, make black and white photo¬
graphic coverage of the area, and provide still photography in color for
five filmstrips.
7. That $2,500 be appropriated as travel expenses for an assistant to accompany
Mr. Scofield on this trip.
8. That in order for Dr. Smith to fill commitments made before coming to the
Board, he be granted permission to conduct a party to the Baptist Viorld
Alliance and visit mission areas in Europe and the Near East during the
summer of 1955. These plans will involve a period of approximately eight
weeks .
