February 10, 1976
The' Foreign Mission Board met in regular monthly session, Tuesday, February
10, 1976, 2:00 p.m., in the Baker James Cauthen Chapel. The President, James
G. Harris, presided.

The president called the meeting to order and welcomed those present. The
audience joined in singing the opening Hymn: "Faith of Our Fathers," led by
Sidney C. Reber, director, Management Services Division.
Mrs. Cherry Y. K. Chang, Board member from California, read a passage of
Scripture and led in the Opening Prayer.
Minutes of the Board for January 13, 1976, were approved.
Reports of standing committees were heard as follows:
Committee on West Africa - Mrs. E. S. Stratton, Chairman
Mrs. Stratton presented five recommendations, as follows:
1. THAT the furlough of Mr. and Mrs. Urban Green of the Ghana Mission
be extended until March 31, 1976, for medical reasons.
2. THAT the furlough of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Nicholson of the Liberia
Mission be extended until March 31, 1976, for medical reasons.
3. THAT the Liberia Mission be authorized to change the work assignment
of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Oody, missionary associates teaching at Ricks
Institute, in order that they may be requested to serve as treasurer
and business manager of the Mission when the regular treasurer goes
on furlough in June 1976.
4. THAT Mrs. J. B. Gaultney of the Nigeria Mission be permitted to
return to the United States in May 1976, for a short visit at personal
expense in order to attend graduation exercises for her son.
5. THAT the Board look with favor upon beginning mission work in
Guinea-Bissau, and that the Area Secretary be authorized to seek
ways in which this may be done.
In connection with recommendation number five, Dr. Cornell Goerner spoke
briefly.
Upon motion of Mrs. Stratton, the Board voted to adopt the items
from West Africa, as presented.
