TREASURER'S
REPORT
Foreign Mission Board Rooms,
December 9th, 1937.
The Board met in regular session at 4:00 P. M. on December
9th with President Jenkins presiding.
The meeting was opened with prayer by Brother Coleman.
There were present Brethren Adams, Coleman, Gwathmey, Jenkins,
Montague, Harris, Williams, Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Wicker and Mrs. Atkinson;
also Executive Secretary, Dr. Maddry . Assistant Executive Secretary,
Miss Ford, Treasurer, Mr. Buxton, and “‘rs. Chambers of China.
The following missionaries, W. B. Johnson, H. H. McMillan,
C. G. McDaniel and J. H. Ware, in Shanghai, were elected as proxies
for the Foreign Mission Board in the conduct and management of the
China Baptist Publication Society Federal, Incorporated. It is under¬
stood that these brethren are to hold 85$ of the stock owned by the
Foreign Mission Board in this organization and they will be authorized
to vote this stock for the best interest of the Publication Society and
the Foreign Mission Board.
Dr. Maddry read a letter from Rev. C. J. McDonald of the
Baptist Mission, Hawaii, asking that we reinforce their work with
missionaries who cannot return to China at this time. It was voted to
request Rev. and Mrs. Harold Hall and Miss Grace Wells to go to Hawaii
until such time as they can re-enter China.
Dr. Maddry read a letter from the editor of the ARKANSAS BAPTIST
asking the Board to pay an additional five dollars on their contract
with the paper for the paid page each month. On motion it was voted to
pay this increase.
The request of Dr. Whittinghill that he be authorized to use
certain funds left over in letters of credit to give the Italian pastors
a Christmas present amounting to about 10$ of their salaries was
declined.
On motion the matter of the Bridger estate was referred to
our attorney, Mr. Montague with the suggestion that he communicate with
Brother M. A. Huggins with reference to the settlement of this estate.
