Foreign Mission Board Rooms
December 5, 1940
'The Foreign Mission Board met in regular monthly session at 4:00 P.M. on
December 5, 1940.
The meeting was opened with prayer by Brother Frickett,
The following were present: Brethren Jenkins, Loving, Bryant, Coleman,
Frickett, R. Aubrey Viilliams, Alley, Adams, J. C. Williams, Maddry, Sadler,
Buxton, and McMillan.
Dr. Maddry reported that there will be a meeting of the Mexican Mission
and Advisory Committee in El Paso, Texas, on December 16th and 17th.
Dr. Maddry recommended the enlargement of the Advisory Committee to the
Mexican Seminary and Publishing House in El Paso, Texas, to include the state
Board members from Texas and Rew Mexico, the President of the Woman's Mission¬
ary Union of Texas, and Mrs. 'ft. C. Carson of Sierra Blanca, Texas. On motion
of Dr. Loving the Board voted to accept this recommendation.
Dr. Maddry called attention to the fact that, under advice from the State
Department many women and children are being brought out of Japan and that there
will necessarily be considerable expense attached to this evacuation. He also
said that the church union in Japan due to take effect March 31st and that
the appropriations for the first quarter are being sent to Japan.
On motion of Brother Adams it was voted to ask the Executive Secretary
and the Far East Committee to investigate with Dr. J. Vi. Decker of the American
Baptist Foreign Mission Society the possibility of opening work in Free China
and Hurma.
