On the motion of Dr. Hite the following mission ary candidates were appointed
as missionaries:

Each missionary gave a brief testimony of ills conversion and missionary
ex- erienee.
Dr. Co 'then -av the charge to the new missionaries and Dr. Swan Haworth led
in the prayer of Indication.

The meeting of the Foreign Mission Bc-rd today Brin s us near the end of 1956.
It has been a year of remarkable uleseing in a world task. With the appointment
of eighteen missionaries today, we are closing the year with 121 appointments.
This is the lamest number ever in the history of the Foreign Mission

C-ifts of Southern Baptists to foreign missions have reached an all-time high
this year. Already we have received from the Advance Section of the Cooperative
Program the sum of
62,ОЙО,ЗШ.
It is anticipated that this amount will be
considerably larger before the close of December.
A high point of the meeting- of the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist
Convention was reached when Dr. Porter Ro ;th presented a check for foreign
missions amounting to £5Rp, 968.78. Although it is still too early to know how
much the Advance funds may be, we are honeful the v will be more than f2, 500,000.

ing Southern Baptists, the Finance Committee recommended to the Executive Committee
a budget for 1-56 totaling 113,000,000, with the object! e of reaching : 16, 000, 000

missions ever made in the 'rf story of our Board. The amount to be received from

The Executive Committee is recommending to the Southern baptist Convention an
increase for foreign missions for 1958 amounting to $l,ljf5>25Q.» This will
provide a total amount from the Cooperative i Tog ram budget, for 1956 for capital
and current of 15,685, 250.00.
