The Foreign Mission Board met in regular monthly session at 4:00 p. ].!.
on December 15th with i resident Jenkins in the chair.
There were present Brethren Jenkins, Coleman, Gwathney, Bryant, Harris,
Loving, k. A. Williams, John C. 'Williams, i.rs. Atkinson, and Mrs. Moore;
also Executive Assistant, Miss Ford; Home Socretary, R. 3. Jones; Treasurer,
E. P. Buxton; Secretary for the Orient, M. T. Rankin; and Secretary for
Africa,- Europe and the Hear East, G. ... Sadler.
It was reported that Dr. -adams was out of the city.
The meeting was opened with prayer by Brother Bryant.
The minutes of the November meeting wore read and approved.
Dr. i.Iadary was unable to come to the meeting on account of illness. In
his absence Miss Ford reported that ten missionaries had recently sailed
for Africa and that those for Europe were hoping to sail in the near future.
Miss Ford also reported the death of three missionaries within the past
month - Rev. C. A. Baker of Brazil; Mrs. 'Wesley W. Lawton, Jr. of China; and
Mrs. J. V. Dawes, formerly of China.
Miss Ford read to the Board a letter from Dr. Sanford S. Ayers of
Chengchow, China, asking that the resignation of himself and Mrs. Ayers be
accepted. On motion of Brother Williams it was voted to accept the resig¬
nation of Dr. and Mrs. Ayers, effective as of l.xirch 1, 1940.
