The Foreign Mission Board mot in regular monthly session on December 11,
1941 at 4:00 F. M. with President Jenkins in the chair.
There were present Brethren Jenkins, Adams, Soever, J. C. Williams, Loving,
Bryant, Prickett, R. Aubrey Williams, Alley, Gaines, Sadler, Buxton, McMillan,
Mrs. Atkinson and Miss Foster.
The meeting was opened with prayer by Brother Alley.
The minutes of the November meeting were approved as read.
Dr. Sadler reported that the following cablegrams had been sent to the
various mission fields on December 10:
To all the China Missions, the Philippines, Japan and Manchuria
"BOARD RECOMMENDS ALL MISSIONARIES PLACE THEMSELVES UNDER DIRECTION
AMERICAN AUTHORITIES RETURN AMERICA IF POSSIBLE OR ADVISABLE

To John Allen Moore in Budapest, Hungary and Roy Starmer in Bucharest, Rumania

DESIRES ADVICE FROM SOUTH AMERICAN MISSIONARIES REGARDING THEIR
NEEDS OR DESIRES - GEORGE SADLER"
Dr. Sadler reported that the following cablegrams had been received from
Dr. Maddry, who arrived in Honolulu on December 4, and from Dr. Beddoe of Wuchow,
China :
"ALL MISSIONARIES AND SELF SAFE AM RETURNING ON SCHEDULE - CHARLES MADDRY"
"WIRE BANK OF CHINA KWEILIN FIRST QUARTER FINANCES FOR SUNHING YiUCHOW
KWEILIN SHIUKAN - BEDDOE"
Dr. Sadler reported that he had received assurances from Congressman A. Willis
Robertson and from Secretary of State Cordell Hull to the effect that the State
Department will help in every way possible to secure information concerning our
missionaries.
On motion of Brother R. Aubrey Williams it was voted to reimburse A. Scott
Patterson of Lagos, Nigeria for the sum of $729.00 expended by him in the purchase
of a lot at Yaba, Nigeria.
On motion of Brother Alley it was voted to approve the steps taken by Dr.
Sadler since the outbreak of war and thank him for what he has done and the prompt¬
ness with which he has acted.
On motion of Brother Adams it was voted to ask President Jenkins to prepare
a statement for the press, setting forth the Board's policy with regard to the
world situation and the steps already taken by the Board.
On motion of Brother Bryant it was voted to receive and file the following
report of the treasurer:
