The Foreign Mission Board met in Convention-wide session at Glorieta, New Mexico, during
Foreign Missions Week, August 2-8, 1975. The President of the Board, James G. Harris,

Members of the Board and Staff, along with their wives/husbands, enjoyed an opportunity
for fellowship during a special Dinner at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 6, in a private
section of the Main Dining Hall.
The President, Dr. James G. Harris, and the Executive Secretary, Dr. Baker J. Cauthen,
recognized members of the Board who were elected during the meeting of the Southern
Baptist Convention in Miami, Florida, June, 1975. Board members and Staff were asked
to give personal introductions, including members of their families. The President and
the Executive Secretary expressed deep appreciation for the number of Board members who
were present and for the excellent opportunities afforded at that time to become
acquainted. New Board members were extended a cordial welcome to service on the Board
and keen anticipation was expressed with reference to the work that would be enjoyed
together in the days that lie ahead.
Following the Dinner, the President called attention to the Work Study Groups and the
13 committee assignments that had been forwarded from the office of the Executive
Secretary.
During discussion of the special Work Study Groups, a motion was made and carried,
indicating the desires of committee chairmen to hold sessions that evening rather than
wait until the time of the Board Meeting on Friday morning. Accordingly, arrangements
