The Foreign Mission Board met in Conventionwide session August 16-18, 1967 in
Glorieta, New Mexico with Dr. J. Chester Badgett presiding.

A discussion period for Board members and Foreign Mission Board staff was held on
Wednesday, August 16 at 7:30 p.m. with Dr. Badgett presiding.
Dr. W. Morris Ford led the group in singing Hymn #292. He then sang "Grace Greater
Than Our Sin."
It was voted to ask Dr. Badgett to appoint a committee to draw up a Resolution
recognizing the outstanding contribution to the life and work of Southern Baptist
missions made by Mrs. L. Howard Jenkins, who died on August 11, 1967, and that the
committee present the Resolution to the Board on Friday, August 18, 1967.
Dr. Badgett appointed the following committee: Wade Bryant, D. 0. Rose, Lucius Polhill,
J. Leonard Moore, Chairman, and John Williams.
Dr. Bryant led in special prayer remembering the Jenkins' family.
Dr. Cauthen introduced and welcomed the new Board members that were present. Other
Board members, Foreign Mission Board staff and guests were also introduced.
Board members were given a copy of the "Manual for Board Members" and the pamphlet
on the organization of the Foreign Mission Board.
The work of the Board's Standing Committees was explained, and each of the Area
secretaries spoke briefly on different aspects of mission work and the mission
organizations on foreign fields. Mr. Deane spoke in regard to the handling of
finances; Dr. Fletcher on missionary personnel, and Dr. Hill on Missionary Education
and Promotion.
Adjournment.
The Board reconvened on Thursday, August 17, 1967 in the new Holcomb Auditorium at
7:15 p.m. for the Appointment Service with Dr. Badgett presiding.
Mr. Kimbler led in the devotional period.
Dr. Cauthen filed the following report of the Executive Secretary.
