Minutes of the April 7, 1856 Foreign Mission Board Meeting

The Board met on monday April 7th at 8 oClock P.M. Present. brn. Taylor, Howell, Ryland, Barns [sic], Ellyson, Manly, Ford, A. Thomas, Allen, Talman, Snead, Sands, Goddin, Wood & Gwathmey. In the absence of the President, bro. Allen was called to the chair. Prayer by bro. C. C. Bitting, who was invited to a seat, as was also bro Wm. M. Young. Treasurer reported receipts of past months at $[blank]. The Treasurer also presented his annual report, which on motion was adopted. A communication was received from bro. Jas. D. Coleman, Sec. of the Goshen Mission Board, informing that they have made an appropriation of $600 to the African Mission, on condition that if bro. Trimble should not sail by 1st Sept. & they shd. require it the money may be returned to them. On motion, the money was received on this condition. Letters were recvd from brn. Bowen, Clark [sic], Beaumont and Phillips which were referred to the Comtee.
