Foreign Mission Board Rooms
April 22, 1942
. The Foreign Mission Board met in semi-annual session on Wednesday,
April 22, 1942 at 9:00 A. M. in the Board Rooms, with President Jenkins
in the chair.

The devotional was led by Dr. E. C. South of Oklahoma City.
The minutes of the March meeting were approved as read.
Dr. Maddry gave the following report on missionaries located in war
areas :

Dr. Maddry made an appeal to get ready for a new day in China. He
asked that the Board give consideration to the matter of sending mission¬
ary candidates to the School of Chinese Studies in Berkeley, California.
Dr. Maddry further suggested that a large committee be appointed to
study post-war conditions and that this committee meet at Ridgecrest. He
also asked that Board members attend Foreign Mission Week at Ridgecrest
and suggested the possibility of having a meeting of the Board at that
time.
Dr. Sadler gave a report on the work in Africa, Europe and the Near
East. He paid special tribute to Miss Lima Elam of Nigeria who passed
away on November 13, 1941.
Dr. Sadler reported that all of our missionaries except Mrs. Bengtson
of Barcelona, Spain had been taken from their stations in Europe and
Palestine.
Dr. Sadler spoke of the unusual courtesies shown by the Department
of State and suggested that the President be asked to write a letter to
Mrs. R. B. Shipley of the Passport Division and to Congressman Willis A.
Robertson,* expressing the Board's appreciation of the service they are
rendering.
TREASURER'S On motion of Brother Slaughter it was voted to receive and file the
REPORT following report of the Treasurer:
