tions to

A called meeting of Board was held at
Rooms at 4.30 P. M. , President Hutson in chair.
Brother James led in prayer.
Present: Hutson, Smith, Ray, Love, Win¬
ston, Elly son, James, Pollard, Skinner, Ball, Wicker,
Harris, Johnson, Woodfin,
Ъ.
H. Jenkins, R.R. Gwathmey,
B. Iff. Gwathmey. Also Purser and Dr. Quisenberry upon
invitation.
The object of the meeting as stated hy
Corresponding Secretary, was to hear and correct the
forthcoming report to Convention.
The Cor. Sec'y also presented Recom¬
mendations to the W.M.U.for next year, which were ap¬
proved as follows:
Gratefully acknowledging the enthusias¬
tic work and generous help of the W. M. U. and Auxilliary
Societies, we desire to set before them a worthy ob¬
jective for the new Convention Year. Under present world
conditions it is imperative that we all undertake larger
tasks. In our foreign mission work enlargement is ab¬
solutely necessary. We believe that the Baptist women
of the South are in full sympathy with the idea of meet¬
ing the situation in an heroic spirit. We therefore
recommend:
1.- That the women undertake to raise
an amount sufficient to support all the women mission¬
aries now on the field and any who may be appointed
during the year; and that the Christmas Offering for
China be applied to the support of the women in that
country. This objective will require $>170,000 for the
women now on the fields. If new missionaries are ap¬
pointed, the amount will increase proportionately,
2. That the Young Womens and Girls1
Auxilliaries continue to raise funds for the support of
our hospitals on the foreign fields, and that they under¬
take to raise a sufficient fund to entirely support these
great missionary agencies. It will require §18,166.
3. .That the Royal Ambassadors support
the Boys' Academy at Hwanghien, China, the Boys' Acad¬
emy at Ogbomoso, Africa, and the Academy at Bisaccia,
Italy, at a cost of §1,400.
4. That the Sunbeam Bands undertake
the full support of all kindergartens and schools for
boys and girls in the various fields. These schools
will cost §12,320.
5. Many of the women will be paying
pledges on the Judson Centennial Fund during the year.
We hope that many others will make contributions and
pledges to this Fund. The W. M. U. is still short of
its aim for this important object, and we hope that they
will continue their efforts until they reach the goal.
All contributions to this Fund will be counted on the
Jubilate Fund.
6. We recommend that the women make ex¬
traordinary efforts during the year to increase the cir¬
culation of the Foreign Mission Journal, to encourage
the distribution of tracts and to press the work of mis¬
sion study classes. One of the great needs of the
hour is the dissemination of missionary information. We
deplore the fact that the circulation of the Foreign Mis -
gion Journal has fallen off heavily during the past year.
This is a serious matter. We feel sure that our women
can help to restore and even increase the circulation
of this very important means of communication between
the mission fields and the churches.
