The Foreign Mission Board met in semi-annual session in the Board Rooms
at 9:00 A.M. on April 2, 1941 with President Jenkins in the chair.
The meeting was opened with a devotional led by Dr. W. 0. Carver of
Louisville, Kentucky.

On motion of Brother Bryant the Board voted to send a telegram of sym¬
pathy to Dr. F. C. Feezor, who was unable to attend because of the death of
his brother. The Board also voted to have the Secretary write letters to
Dr. W. A. Harris, Dr. R. Aubrey Williams and Mr. Basil M. Gwathmey, who were
absent on account of illness.
The minutes of the March meeting of the Board were approved as read.
The Executive Secretary presented a general survey of the missionary
personnel of the Board and emphasized the necessity of keeping up the per¬
sonnel and appointing new missionaries.
The Secretary for Africa, Europe and the Hear East reported on each of
these fields.
COMMITTEE On motion of Brother Adams the following report of the Committee on
ON AFRICA Africa, Europe and the Hear East was adopted:

lND NEAR In view of the strategic opportunity now before us in Africa, the com-
SAST mittee recommends:
1. That a couple be sent this year to meet the request of the king at
Ijebu. It should be remembered that money has already been provided for this
purpose and that three years have passed since the request was made.
2. That this year, if at all possible, Dr. George C-roen be instructed
to send a seasoned co\jple to carry on the work on the "Gold Coast" and that,
as soon as practicable, a couple be sent to replace these transferred to this
new work.
3. That, while we rejoice that Miss Alma Graves has been transferred
from Japan to assist Scott Fatterson in the work of the Baptist Academy in
Lagos, in viev; of the urgent need, a couple be sent, as soon as possible, to
take up the work that Scott Fatterson can no longer carry by himself.
4. That the Board accept the offer of the Texas W. M. U. to install
Diezel equipment at the hospital at Ogbomosho.
5. That, in the program of missionaries for next year, there be included
