The Foreign Mission Board met in Conventionwide Semiannual Session, April 19-21, 1971,
in Executive Inn Motor Hotel, Louisville, Kentucky, with Drew J. Gunnells, Jr., the
Board's president, presiding.

Seminary, Woman's Missionary Union of Kentucky, missionaries on furlough in the Kentucky
area, missionary journeymen in the Kentucky area; J. Chester Badgett, former president,
FMB; Mrs. Marie Mathis, president, Woman's Missionary Union (SBC); and Miss Alma Hunt,
executive secretary, Woman's Missionary Union (SBC). Unfortunately, a conflicting
engagement made the attendance of Mrs. Mathis impossible.
Monday, April 19, 1971
The FULL BOARD and its administrative staff met in session for DINNER, at 6:30 p.m. , in
the Canterbury Room of the Executive Inn Motor Hotel.
During the time of the DINNER for Board members and administrative staff, wives and/or
husbands who accompanied Board members to Louisville were guests of the Board for dinner,
6:30 p.m., in the Yorkshire and Windsor Rooms, with Mrs. Baker J. Cauthen, hostess , on
behalf of the Board.
Following the DINNER, the President of the Board, Drew J. Gunnells, Jr., called the
meeting to order.
Board members and the Board's staff were introduced.
Dr. Cauthen express deep appreciation for the invitation extended by leaders of the State
Baptist Convention and Long Run Association of Kentucky, on behalf of this strategic
meeting.
A 'cordial welcome was extended to the entire group, by Dr. Harold Sanders, executive
secretary of the Kentucky Baptist Convention.
Dr. Clifton W. Woolley, Board member from Tennessee, read a passage of Scripture and
led in prayer.
Dr. G. Allen West, of the Long Run Baptist Association, was acknowledged.
Dr. Cauthen introduced Board member, John D. Ratliff, and expressed appreciation for his
service as a former missionary of the Board and then as Secretary of the Baptist
