The Board met on Monday April 14th at 4 1/2 oclock P.M. Present. Brn: Wilson, Tupper, E. Wortham, Garlick, A. G. Wortham, Keesee, Evans, Clarke, Winston, Williams, Goddin, Watkins & Gwathmey.
Bro. Wilson was called to the Chair, and prayer was offered by Bro. Evans.
Minutes were read and approved.
The Treasurer read his Annual Report, which was adopted for presentation to the Convention.
The Committee on New Fields presented a report, which on motion, was adopted as follows:-
"Whereas the policy of the Board, formed under the direction of the Convention is to expand their missionary enterprises with the opening of Providence, and the means furnished by the people of God.
and Whereas several appeals have been made for the Bd to found Missions in Germany and Brazil, the latter commending itself strongly to the favor of the Board,
Therefore, Resd. that while the Board would gladly extend its Missionary operations to other fields, they are necessarily restricted by the contributions of the churches which barely suffice to support the Missions already established.
The Committee on China Missions recommended the adoption of the following, which was agreed to.
Resd. that the allowance for Salaries, to the Missionaries of the Board, at the several stations in China, shall hereafter, until otherwise ordered, be uniform, and as follows.
For Single man or woman per annum $500.
Man and wife 900.
Each child to 7 yrs old 100.
Each child from 7 to 15 yrs old 125.
Provided, that except by special agreement no single Missionary family shall receive more than fourteen hundred and fifty Dollars per annum.
The Cor. Secy. presented a communication from Bro. George B. Taylor, accepting the appointment as Missionary to Italy.
