Foreign Mission Board Rooms,
April 12th, 1939
The Foreign Mission Board met in semi-annual session in the Board Rooms
at 9:50 A. M. on April 12th, 1939, with President Jenkins in the chair.
The meeting was opened with a devotional led by Dr. George
V/.
Sadler.

APPOINTMENT
COMMITTEE
The Executive Secretary, Dr. Charles E. Maddry, reported on his trip
to Madras and the condition of the work of the Board, especially in connec¬
tion with the work in Brazil and Palestine.
The report of the Appointment Coxmiittee was read and, following ex¬
amination of the candidates before the Board, was approved:
After a thorough examination by your Committee, we reoommend the fol¬
lowing candidates for appointment as missionaries of our Board:
Rev. and Mrs. B. J. Cauthen, China
Miss Mary Lucile Saunders, China
Rev. and Mrs. H. B. Ramsour, Japan
Miss Floryne Miller, Japan
Rev. and Mrs. Sydney L. Goldfinch, Uruguay
Rev. and Mrs. Howard Bryant, Chile
Miss Josephine Scaggs, Nigeria
On motion of Dr. Gibson it was voted that the matters to be taken up
by the various committees be considered by the Board as a whole instead of
separately as heretofore.
After prayer by Brother Estes the Board adjourned for lunch.

LATIN AMERICA
The Board reassembled at 2:30 P. M.
It was recommended and approved that W. C. Harrison be made treasurer of
the North Brazil Mission in place of R. Elton Johnson, and T. B. Stover of
the South Brazil Mission in place of J. J. Cowsert, since Brother Johnson and
Brother Cowsert are coming home on furlough
It was voted that $100.00 be appropriated to R. Elton Johnson .to cover
the expense of his trip with Dr. Frank Leavell in visiting the mission fields
of South America.
